Smooth communications
The State Provincial Office manages the functionality and safety of public transport services and taxi services. It cooperates with the Ministry of Transport and Communications, municipalities and traffic contractors.
Every year, the State Provincial Office purchases transport services, supplementing scheduled services with buses and taxis. The aim of developing public transport is to provide equitable, profitable and efficient transport, increasing the use of public transport and thus reducing the need for separate publicly funded individual transportation.
A considerable number of the bus routes in the countryside are transport services financed by the State Provincial Office. In this way, school services, work services and access are ensured even in sparsely populated areas. The State Provincial Office is also involved in financing regional tickets, local transport in towns, service routes for the elderly and disabled, and public transport information.
The State Provincial Office grant licences for transporting passengers and goods. Conditions for obtaining a licence include professional skill, absence of a criminal record and financial solidity. Certain licences are subject to discretion.
The promotion of traffic safety requires cooperation
The State Provincial Office supports the traffic safety work of local authorities, which helps prevent traffic accidents. The traffic safety advisory board of the province co-ordinates cooperation. Key actors are represented on the advisory board.
