The Provincial Police Command plans, develops and direct police work in the province. The Provincial Police Command agrees on result goals with the local police departments every year and decides on the resources allocated to them. The Provincial Police Command also decides on the cooperation of national police units and the local police in the province and resolves complaints concerning the local police.

The Provincial Police Command tries to secure as good operating conditions as possible for the local police departments in the province by developing cooperation between them. For example, the prevention of serious and professional crime has been concentrated in region units. The objective is to enhance functions and to free personnel for basic police work. The Provincial Police Command also trains local police together with the police education institutions.

The duties of the Provincial Police Command

  • allocation of resources for local police;
  • provision for leadership responsibilities in police work;
    control and supervision of police work.
