North Calotte and Barents Cooperation
North Calotte consists of Norrbotten from Sweden; Nordland, Troms and Finnmark from Norway and Lapland from Finland. The cooperation between these regions is carried out by the North Calotte Council whose member the Governor of Lapland is. Important source of the financing is the European Union's Interreg -programme, besides the Nordic Council of Ministers.
State Provincial Office of Lapland's bilateral regional level cooperation between neighbour regions as Norrbotten in Sweden and Finnmark in Norway, is continuous in most spheres of authorities of the State Provincial Office of Lapland. Development of rescue cooperation to cover all neigbour regions of Lapland as well as Murmansk Region has been in the central position.
Barents Region
The Barents Euro-Arctic region covers 5 counties from The Arctic Region of the Nordic countries. In addition Kainuu and Northern Ostrobothnia provinces from Finland; Vasterbotten from Sweden; Arkhangelsk Oblast, the Karelia Republic, Komi Republic, Murmansk Oblast and the Nenets Autonomous Okrug from Russia belong to the Barents Euro-Arctic region as well. The State Provincial Office of Lapland participates in cooperation in the Barents region almost in all field of activities. Part of the cooperation is bilateral. Read more...
