Burial matters

The act on burial services contains regulations on the burial and cremation the deceased, the handling of ashes, as well as on founding, maintaining, tending and abolishing burial grounds and private tombs, and of the founding of crematoriums. The will of the deceased and final resting place must be honoured in burial matters.

The State Provincial Office supervises the act on burial services. It monitors and grants licences for private burial grounds and plots, founding crematoriums, moving buried bodies and ashes.
